At the beginning of this month we broke ground on the long-awaited, River's Edge Apartments, located in downtown Kalamazoo. River's Edge Apartments, owned by River Caddis Communities and Standard Communities, will offer 228 income-based units to the city. There will be four buildings all together - two buildings will consist of 112 units, one building will be 4 units of multi-use lofts, and the fourth will house a clubhouse with a fitness center, cafe, and game room for residents.

Out of the 228 units, 81% will be rented to individuals earning less than 60% of the area median income.

These apartments will be a major stepping stone in the city's act to bring more affordable housing to families and individuals in Kalamazoo.

At the end of this month we broke ground on the highly anticipated, Purdue Fort Wayne Student Apartments, Trace. This project comes as a public-private partnership with Gilbane Development Company.

Members from the university gave brief remarks, highlighting the significance these apartments will have on their campus, before coming together to break ground.

These new student apartments will rise four stories, offering 600 beds across 176 units and 213,000 square feet. Just under half of the units will be reserved for Purdue Fort Wayne students while the remaining units will be open for lease for students from other universities.

Trace will play a pivotal role in the university's mission to transform from a commuter campus into a traditional residential campus.

On Halloween, we broke ground on a new Consumers Credit Union branch in Marshall, MI! This new branch office is a testament to Consumers Credit Union's growth - spanning 45 minutes East of its Kalamazoo headquarters. This office will feature a spacious lobby, a cafe, and IT room, and more. We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Consumers Credit Union on the fifth branch office we've built together, expanding on a collaborative history that includes their headquarters and other projects.

Trunk or Treat

AVB participated in Greenspire Apartment's first annual Trunk or Treat event, with two construction workers handing out candy from a decorated construction truck! Residents and AVB family members joined in on the spooky fun to enjoy candy, dress up in costumes, and get in the Halloween spirit.

Storytime with Oldie

We proudly sponsored Western Michigan University football player, Zahir Abdus-Salaam, better known as Oldie, as he read to a classroom of children at the YMCA's Northside Early Learning Center. Partnering with him was a rewarding experience, and the children were thrilled by the opportunity!

KRESA MiCareerQuest

Some AVB teammates took the day to volunteer at Kalamazoo RESA's MiCareerQuest event. Students and their families attended and got the opportunity to connect with professionals and take part in activities showcasing various high-growth occupations, broadening their awareness of promising career opportunities in Southwest Michigan.
