400 Rose: Preserving a Piece of History
Creating projects that are integrated with nature has become the foundation of our commitment to sustainability, even in an urban environment. AVB and The Hinman Company made a special effort during the construction of 400 Rose to preserve a one-hundred-year-old burr oak tree, located on the corner of Cedar and Rose streets in downtown Kalamazoo. This is a cherished piece of natural history the 400 Rose project was able to preserve for our community.

Ascension Borgess Second Floor Surgery Expansion is now complete!
The exciting expansion to Ascension Borgess's Surgery Center is complete! The new 36,000 square-foot addition adds a second floor to the existing surgery center. The expansion features 3 elevators, 10 operating rooms, surgical tool sterilization areas, and a connection to patient units in the hospital's North Tower by way of a bridge corridor. Expert coordination and communication from AVB were required during this project to ensure the many roof penetrations, needed to anchor the new addition to the existing facility, would not disturb the active operations taking place directly below construction. We are proud of our team for rising to the challenge to successfully complete this addition, and believe this new surgery center expansion is an important addition to our community.
