Sustainability Success Featuring 400 Rose
Creating projects that are integrated with nature has become the foundation of our commitment to sustainability, even in an urban environment. Take 400 Rose for example. This mixed-use development is located in bustling downtown Kalamazoo, creating an active gateway between the popular Vine neighborhood and the amenities of downtown living.
During construction, AVB had the opportunity to preserve a one-hundred-year-old burr oak tree, located on the corner of Cedar and Rose streets. Putting in the extra planning effort and careful coordination of site activities, allowed us to save this piece of natural history for our community.
400 Rose also features green roof garages, a rooftop garden, and recycled Ash Wood accents throughout the interior. Access to charging ports for electric vehicles, secure bike racks, and green space for a dog park also enhance the sustainable features offered at 400 Rose. During construction, AVB took extra steps to ensure construction waste was recycled and sustainable materials were used throughout. This effort lead 400 Rose to earn a LEED Gold certification: the second-highest sustainable certification for commercial construction.

AVB Run Zeigler Kalamazoo Marathon
Making a big comeback after the COVID-19 pandemic, the Zeigler Kalamazoo Marathon was buzzing with electric energy last Sunday. As a long-time sponsor of the previous Borgess Run for the Health of It! AVB was excited to support this new community event as a sponsor and participant, with AVB teammates lining up at the start line for each event. We can't wait until we are all back next year for ZKM 2023!
