AVB and The Hinman Company, both headquartered in the City of Portage, celebrated the groundbreaking of Tall Timbers, an expansion project at Greenspire Apartments in the City of Portage, with an event attended by Portage Mayor, Patricia Randall.
Tall Timbers is a three-building, four-story, apartment complex that brings 180 new apartment units to the City of Portage. This development will also feature a 147-space integrated parking deck and an expansive common area. Of the total units, 10% will be reserved for households earning between 80-120% of the area median income.
Interest in new apartments in Portage has been sparked by steady growth at the region’s major employers. Recent expansion projects at both Stryker and Pfizer have brought a wave of new employees to Portage, and Greenspire is designed to help meet the housing needs of these new employees. In addition, new residents have been drawn to the area due to continued investment in Portage Public Schools and their facilities.
In recent years, Greenspire has also added new retail and restaurant options to the community, which provides an appealing walkable environment for its residents. The importance of a walkable and mixed-use environment has continued to grow within residential communities across the state, including Portage.
Greenspire, located on West Centre Avenue between US-131 and Oakland Drive in Portage, is home to over 700 apartments and 13,000 square feet of restaurant and retail space.
