Project Brochure

This project was an addition to the existing Bickford Senior Living facility in Portage, to accommodate the growing memory care wing. This new addition features 16 bedrooms with private bathrooms, a community kitchen and living area, a salon, and a spa room. Each unit was designed with an awning-like feature to simulate a front porch and help distinguish each individual unit as a home. The addition also features built in railings that run through the entirety of the space and a nurse call system for safety.

Because this project was an addition, there were early concerns regarding the design and construction on how best to tie in the addition to the existing structure. AVB worked closely with the owner’s representative and the architect throughout the construction process, using effective communication and proactive problem solving to ensure that the addition blended seamlessly with the existing building.
