This new production brewery is housed in a 30,000 square foot building and features an open concept restaurant and bar with outdoor accessibility. Arcadia Ales is also equipped with a commercial kitchen, an outdoor smokehouse, and the perfect location: just off of the Kalamazoo River. Kayaks and other boaters are able to tie off with direct access to the restaurant and bar through Arcadia’s unique indoor/outdoor stage.

Phase 2 further developed the riverfront and included a beer garden right on the river’s edge.

AVB had to successfully collaborate between several different firms such as the Department of Environmental Quality, Michigan Economic Development Corporation, the City of Kalamazoo, and the County of Kalamazoo to solve the problem that arose due to poor soil conditions at the site. The soil was so contaminated that AVB had to extensively excavate and remove large quantities of soils that were unsuitable for building upon.

Being able to contribute to the clean-up of the surrounding Kalamazoo River area during the process of this project was one of the most rewarding aspects of building this unique brewery. AVB was also able to stick around after the Brewery building was complete to aid in the installation of the brewing equipment.
